Everyone wants to help Surat Maneenopparatsuda, who was released on Friday after an anonymous good Samaritan paid a big fine so he did not have to spend 667 days in jail for selling pirated movie and music compact discs that he collected from scrap.
Despite there being a very good chance that he could receive more donations that would enable him to establish a stable financial position, he said he would not accept any and told potential donors to donate the money to a charity to help the disadvantaged.
Although he earns a living of only a few hundred baht per day, he is satisfied and will concentrate his attention on working hard in order to have the chance to start working as a permanent employee.
In addition, he says he will think carefully about his actions in the future – if he doesn’t know something, he will consult someone who does so he won’t make a mistake again like the one that landed him in trouble.
I feel that his noble ideas can be an example for children and adults to learn from and practice, including promoting a self-sufficiency lifestyle.
