References made in the article regarding Pakistan’s involvement in October’s border misadventure are baseless and unfounded. The ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary were initiated on the other side of the border. The unprovoked and indiscriminate firing and shelling by Indian forces resulted in several civilian casualties and damage to property. Pakistan had no option but to draw the attention of the UN Secretary General to intervene and help stop the unwarranted aggression in the form of non-stop intense cross-border firing and heavy shelling. It should be noted that Pakistan desires normalisation and friendly relations with all its neighbours, including India, and intends to resolve all issues through diplomatic means.
