Thai students already have to go through a bunch of tests, from O-Nets to GAT and PAT in high school. In the process they spend a lot of money, taking the tests and cram-school courses in a bid to get the desired scores. Now the authorities are pushing university students back into the “loop” again. Why?
Can they prove that the test will be as reliable and “up to standard” as its international equivalents?
Or will our university students be used as guinea pigs again, just as they have been all their lives because of national tests that were never settled upon?
Will the U-Net work as an efficient tool to examine students’ competence after they graduate from university?
I think the Ministry of Education Board and the NIETS have to think a little deeper and reconsider this project.
