As usual John Arnone doesn't have a clue to what he's talking about. He says segregation could have been ended in America by simply relying on the federal courts. Did he ever hear of Plessy V Fergueson?
In 1896 that was a US Supreme Court decision that upheld racial segregation. Did he ever hear of the Dred Scott decision where the Supreme Court sent a runaway slave back to his master?
What the demonstrations in the l960s accomplished was they brought media attention to the problem of racial discrimination, which in turn ultimately led to the civil rights laws that ended racial segregation.
Without peaceful demonstrations, the public would ignore or not even be aware of many of the injustices. If Arnone really believes that media attention doesn’t make any difference why does he continue to bombard us with one outrageous
letter after another?
