On the face of it, how could anyone argue with this idea as we strive for Thailand-type democracy?
But let’s be honest, isn’t this the flipside of the problem? Haven’t far too many dishonest people been in power for a long, long time in this country?
Look no further than the recent arrest of the CIB chief and the long trail of police, army, government and civilians who participated in their smuggling, bribery and extortion rackets. It’s not a case of one rotten apple spoiling the bunch.
And what about the thousands who must have known of this (probably in fear for their lives) after 10-15 years? I’m very sceptical about anyone’s ability to separate the good from the bad, when so many seem infected.
