Americans seem quite confident (or supremely naive) in their effort to destabilise and ultimately vanquish the Russian president economically, but he is not just a poor black child with a toy gun who can be shot and left to die in agony.
As the article and others like it point out, Russia has real guns (lots of nukes) and a cornered, wounded Russian leadership might just decide to go out in blaze of glory.
Thai diplomats and government leaders could perhaps try and somehow mediate the situation, but the US habit of whistling in the graveyard is not going to fool anyone this time around.
