The stars might have chosen different designers to dress them for Sunday’s night lavish Golden Globe ceremony in Beverly Hills but several of the ladies opted for the same cosmetics to ensure they looked picture perfect.
Nominees Emily Blunt and Felicity Jones and award presenter Gwyneth Paltrow were among those made up by Hollywood’s leading artists.
Jenn Streicher, who created Blunt’s dazzling look, said she based her choices on the actress’s white Michael Kors dress and custom-made jewellery by Lorraine Schwartz.
“I can't remember the last time Emily wore white on the red carpet!, she enthused. “She had just returned from a sunny getaway and her skin was perfectly bronzed for a white gown. And because we decided to have her hair loosely back I wanted her makeup to be soft and ethereal with just a pop of colour on the lips to bring out the jewels.
“For her eyes, I dabbed on Dior’s Backstage Eye Prime over the entire lid and then mixed two of the lightest shades of Dior’s eye palette “Cuir Cannage” over the lid. I also mixed two of the darker shades of the same palette in her crease, concentrating on the outside corners and a bit on the lower lash line. Then I brushed a bit of her blush (Cocktail Peach #553) on her lids before dabbing on Dior’s long wearing cream shadow in Chimere over the entire lid to give it a little shimmer. And, of course, I used tons of Dior Show Mascara! And then, for my favourite part of the look, I used Dior lipstick #169 Grege with just a bit of the new Rouge Dior Lipshine in #808 over the top. Emily was absolutely delighted!”
For Jones too, the inspiration for the face was the dress. Sabrina Bedrani, makeup artist for Dior Beauty, says she wanted a contemporary and fresh look to complement the very chic, timeless, and elegant Christian Dior gown the actress was wearing.
“I wanted the main focus to be on her eyes. I first lined the top of her eye with the new black Diorshow Kohl stick and smudged it to extend outwards to the corner of her eyes. I then added the darkest green of the Dior Spring 2015 5 Couleurs palette “House of Greens” on just the outer corner of her eye, blending it inward. I did the same in the lower lash line. To complement the beautiful green of the dress, I chose a coral-orange Dior liner and lipstick to add a soft pop of colour.”
Dior Beauty’s makeup artist Leslie Lopez designed Gwyneth Paltrow’s make up palette around the star’s bubblegum pink dress by Michael Kors.
“I didn’t want to overdo it on the eyes to compete with the dress, so I used a sheer layer of the silver shade in the beautiful Dior Versailles palette, which was perfect, and then a couple coats of Diorshow mascara. Gwyneth loves DiorskinAirflash so, after applying the lightest concealer under her eyes to make her look more sun-kissed, I lightly dusted her face with #400. For the lips, I tried a few different shades before deciding on the new Rouge Brillant – we wanted it to match the dress, but not look too matchy-matchy.”
