I’m sure they have a few words for minding one’s own business, going back to where one originally belongs and not constantly criticising the nominally gracious hosts for allowing them a second home to come to, while further ameliorating one’s self with the host country if they so choose to make it become their own...
Clamouring for permanent residency, intermarrying, raising families, owning property/investing, all the while criticising away...Hmm, wonder what those are?
As Achara Deboonme pointed out, “On the positive side, unlike a corporation, Thailand can’t fall off the world map by failing to conform to internationally accepted principles. But is this a sustainable path? It seems that at the national level, the definition of that word is shifting as Thais waver on the definition of moral principles.”
Well, there certainly is no corner on the market for immorality here, just perhaps a pronounced lack of repentance, a strong lack of caring or selfishness, for it seems as if the national mantra is “I’m never wrong”. Just witness what passes for driving etiquette and it’s fairly hopeless, obviously. But then again, people living in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, hmm?
