The spectacle of Islamic State sickos raping and murdering their way across the Middle East is providing an interesting diversion from pondering the next smartphone to buy or the newest thing on television to watch.
We can’t wait to see what perversion they commit next. Meanwhile childish concerns and trivial domestic politics keep us from actually helping the real victims – ordinary Iraqis and Kurds.
At the rate the Iraqi army is going – liberating one village every two months – we should get plenty more fun yet as IS freaks murder everybody and steal or smash every ancient treasure in their path.
Let’s hope that no one interrupts the spectacle by bothering to do anything to protect minority communities like the Kurds and archaeological treasures like Nimrud.
