The caricature you chose to publish yesterday depicts Netanyahu as an angry giant whom “the globe” is introducing to a tiny Palestinian as “Your next peace partner”. Netanyahu is screaming “no Palestinian state”, while the distressed Palestinian is saying, “I’ll take my chances with the snake or the big stone.”
What makes this caricature even more “funny” – in the sense of ridiculous – is that right beneath it is an article criticising the West for being passive about the horrific civil war in Syria, which has killed and wounded hundreds of thousands and made 40 per cent of the population refugees in the past fours years. Perhaps this story helps explain why Mr Netanyahu has been re-elected in Israel. He sees the two-state solution as a sure recipe for the destruction of the Jewish state, or at least its slide into the same chaotic violence we now see in Syria.
A Palestinian state would allow millions of Palestinian “refugees” to return as citizens and a jihadi organisation to attack Israel, with the help of Iran and its proxies, Hezbollah and Hamas. Most Israeli citizens seem to agree with Mr Netanyahu, despite what the global leftist media think. Mentioning the global media, for an English-language newspaper in a Buddhist country with a years-long violent Muslim insurgency on its southern border, aren’t you too obsessed with Israel?
