I am no fan of Yingluck, but the upcoming trial has nothing to do with corruption.
Yingluck did nothing different than what every politician has been doing for decades.
She is being prosecuted to be found guilty to be barred from politics for five years, so that she cannot run in the next election.
Anytime a politician is indicted for corruption, which isn’t very often, there is a surreptitious reason behind it because an unwritten law has existed in this country – you will not indict me today so that I will not indict you tomorrow.
The only time the law is violated is when someone falls out of favour with the powers to be.
The Shinawatras are definitely persona non grata in Thailand. You, as an educated, obviously intelligent Thai either know this or choose not to say it, or you are very naive. Thais can write such propaganda in Thai language newspapers, but when you try to convince foreigners who have been here for years in English language newspapers, I’m afraid you are going to get called on it.
