Thaksin is to blame for Yingluck's troubles

Re: Stop scapegoating the Shinawatras; Thailand's problems go much deeper", Letters, March 25.

In his latest letter John Arnone cites the case in which burglars found several bags of cash in a government man’s Bangkok home as an example of how widespread and deep-rooted corruption in Thailand is.
True. But why refer to a scandal involving a few million baht as though it were more important than one involving more than B600 billion – such as the rice-pledging scheme?
By the way, if Thaksin had not given Yingluck the green light to enter politics, would Yingluck have become Thailand’s prime minister and be in the big mess she finds herself in today?
Therefore, if you sympathise with Ms Yingluck over her trouble, it is her brother Thaksin you should blame for causing it, not people like me.
