Damned if he did, damned if he didn't

First they implored Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to lift martial law, and he relented. Now they are railing against Article 44 of the charter, which gives him unlimited power to do anything he wants to protect peace and national security.

Let me get this straight. Article 44 has existed ever since the coup was launched. It just hadn’t been invoked to replace martial law. So, after the coup we had both Article 44 and martial law. Now we have only Article 44. Isn’t that nice?
Anyway, look at the bright side. From now on, if someone flashes a three-finger salute at Prayut, he can always flash four fingers with both hands in return (or half the victory sign if he’s in a bad mood).
