Conflict among branches of Islam is centuries old
Referring to Ian Martin's response on Saturday to JC Wilcox's letter of April 15, you should ensure facts are correct.
Your information on Israel may be correct, but as regards Islam, there are four branches – Ahmadiyya, Sunni, Shi’ah and Khawari – the main branches being Sunni and Shi’ah.
To suggest the “extremist sentiment has been stirred up by Western countries” is total nonsense. The conflict among the branches of Islam has gone on for centuries, not dissimilar to conflicts within Christianity.
In terms of world religions, Islam is surging while Christianity is waning, so there will be more conflicts among, not only Western values, but also differing Islamic values.
