SOAP STAR MANASNAN “Donut” Panlertwongskul, who recently picked up the Best Actress award at the 12th Khom Chad Luek Awards for her role in the drama “Vieng Roi Dao”, is wearing another hat these days – and the style suits her. The actress is making her |directorial debut with “Love Sucks”, which goes on release next month, and recently introduced the film to friends and fans at an event at SF World Cinema in CentralWorld.
“The film centres on a 30-something woman with a broken heart,” says Donut, who graduated in |digital film marketing from the New York Film Academy.
“I guess it comes from a need to know why it is that outsiders and even friends look at the broken-hearted as if they had cancer and |are to be pitied. While of course there’s always some sadness involved in a break up, surely we |can pick ourselves up and start |having fun! I want women to feel proud of themselves and love |themselves more.”
The award-winning actress |didn’t only direct the film but also wrote it, scouted for locations, as well as shot and edited it.
The star-studded event was attended by fellow actors Taya Rogers, James Charles Mackie, Teeratep “Leesaw” Winothai, Ananya “Patty” Apisityakul, |Thawat “Note” Tassanapolpinij, Nattaya “UK” Ongsritrakool, Sudthasit Podthasak and Pachabadee “Pink” Tantaputta. Montonn Jira and other friends were responsible for producing songs for the movie.
“Love Sucks” is a romantic |comedy and a joint venture between True Vision Original Picture and Daughter Production.
It goes on release on June 25.
