Recently I read an article that presented the difference between judgement in the West and judgement in Asia. Westerners, it said, consider two sides of an argument and then choose one or the other. Asians, on the other hand, listen to opposing arguments and then try to find a place somewhere in the middle.
It seems to me that Westerners are trained to see only two sides of an issue, while Asians are brought up to believe that there are often more than two sides to any disagreement.
The current Thai government would be wise to remember that this is still Asia (at least in my opinion).
Thai news media would be wise to “remember the middle” and not to follow the Western tendency of presenting issues as simply black-and-white.
