I agree with the TV viewers who object to Prime Minister Prayut’s periodic interruptions of normal TV programming to laud his junta’s achievements and rebut his critics. Some time ago I was happily watching Clint Eastwood’s move “Space Cowboys” when it was rudely interrupted by the appearance of the junta’s five circular logos (I call them the five bubbles), backed by martial music and immediately followed by a half-hour discourse by PM Prayut.
You can get away with committing a lot of sins in this world – murder, treason, incest, cannibalism, infanticide, even genocide – but you do NOT interrupt a Clint Eastwood movie.
To spare PM Prayut the unqualified condemnation of an outraged world, I suggest that he schedule his pontifications right after the 6pm national anthem and limit them to a concise five minutes. My wife says if you can’t say what you have to say in five minutes, you’re being verbose. Too bad she doesn’t follow her own advice.
