Frivolousness was at a minimum. Furthermore, the Opinion pages were genuinely thought-provoking and free of the empty talk of overeducated, arrogant journalists and know-it-all expatriates revealing their shallowness. Two readers’ letters on the Kra canal prompted nods of agreement and the hope that a route will eventually be cut across the southern isthmus, whether by rail or by water. Singapore and Malaysia are economically strong right now, and they might not be so touchy at the prospect of Thailand improving its resources.
In sum, I can state without reservation that a daily read of The Nation is a must for anyone who wishes to stay abreast of current affairs.
