US has no moral ground on which to lecture us

Not too long ago, I saw a headline in The Nation – “US-Thai relations hinge on Thailand’s return to election”. I wonder what Alan Mehew would say if that headline was changed to “Thai-US relations hinge on the American police treating non-white American citizens like human beings”. Until the butchering of Afro-Americans and other minorities stops in the US, the American government absolutely has no moral ground to lecture us, Thais, about freedom and democracy.
It is a supreme irony that the chance of Afro-Americans being harassed, humiliated, or killed by the police is much lower in Bangkok than in most parts of the US.
