UN migration 'expert' talking through his hat

Over the years we've read some foolish remarks from the UN and this latest one is perhaps the most absurd.

Francois Crepeau, the UN expert on migration, is reported as saying that there is no difference between the migrant crisis in Calais and British tourists going to Thailand.
There is just a small difference of course. The migrants on reaching Britain will be a burden on the nation. They are without money, have no job and intend to stay to be taken care of.
Tourists come to Thailand with money, help the economy and return home. One is a burden, one is vital to the Thai economy.
This migration expert speaks from his office in Montreal, safely seated, well away from any migration crisis. Just where does the UN find these experts who so discredit their organisation?
