GREAT TUNES courtesy of DJ Tul Apartment Khunpa and sensational visual mapping by artist Kob Kor.Bor.Vor (Pongpassakorn Kulthirathum) added to the excitement last week as Vespiario Thailand unveiled two new scooters from Italy – the Vespa Monochrome Limited Series and the Vespa Raduno Edition.
Vespiario, sole distributor for the brand in this country, hosted the party at the W Bangkok Hotel that drew VIPs and top celebrities including Andrea Speronello of the Italian Embassy, Pita Limjaroenrat, Peerayos Sirikiatsoong and Akarat Vanarat.
Vespiario managing director Pornada Tejapaibul said the new Vespas are being marketed as “More than Just a Ride”.
“The Vespa Monochrome Limited Series exudes design simplicity in matte black with white and black lines,” she said. “This is enhanced by sporty body styling, like the smoked, low-profile windshield, to please masculine riders who prefer distinctively styled mobility.
“The Vespa Raduno Edition is part of the S Series and comes with a ‘Design your own Vespa’ concept. There are three body shades available – matte grey, red and white – and owners can give it their own individual styling using racing-inspired stickers.”
Targeted primarily at male riders, the Monochrome Limited Series sports a black Vespa logo at the front designed exclusively for it. Purchasers also receive gifts valued at Bt6,000 in total – a Konstruktor SLR Lomography camera, a stylish safety helmet, sunglasses in a leather case, and a black backpack with an embossed Vespa logo, all matching the scooter.
There are two models in the series.
The Vespa Sprint 150 3Vie retains the classic appeal of the ’60s, when the Vespa first took Europe by storm. It features a 150cc three-valve, four-stroke engine with electronic fuel injection. The dynamic body accentuates its manoeuvrability, guaranteeing an exhilarating ride as well as everyday versatility. A sporty rectangular headlight is what makes it unmistakably a Vespa Sprint, and now there’s enhanced safety with LED daytime running lights. Only 364 of these Sprints have been made, and the going price is Bt126,900.
The Vespa GTS 150 3Vie is powered by a 150cc three-valve, four-stroke, air-cooled engine with electronic fuel injection. It boasts enhanced agility and fuel efficiency in urban traffic. In addition to a steel monocoque body that increases load-bearing capability and long-term durability, it offers a large under-seat storage space. Up front is Vespa’s classic single-arm suspension. A dual-caliper front and rear disc braking system ensures absolute safety and maximum performance. Just 266 models of this scooter were produced, and they sell for Bt147,900.
The Vespa Raduno Edition celebrates Vespiario Thailand’s fifth anniversary with the return of the famous rectangular headlight of the Vespa S-Series that was once the most popular model in Thailand. Making its comeback with a sportier look, it was specially styled for young riders. Buyers also get a Raduno Edition safety helmet and matching tote bag, together valued at Bt3,500.
The Raduno Edition features a 125cc three-valve, four-stroke engine with electronic injection for cleaner combustion, better fuel efficiency and smoother power transmission, which translates into easy handling and better agility. Depending on availability, there are three colour choices – Rosso Dragon (red) and Montebianco (white) for Bt84,900 and Grigio Titanio (matte grey) for Bt85,900.
