Religion is not the problem
Re: "I don't need moral guidance from the Vatican", Letters, September 14.
“Religion is and has been for thousands of years the main cause of unrest and conflict,” wrote JC Wilcox. This is incorrect – religion is not the problem. The problem is people. Claiming otherwise is like saying guns kill people. A gun has never killed anybody. People kill people. (The availability of guns is a separate issue also worthy of debate.)
The more fundamental problem is people and their clamour for power and control. I don’t normally take issue with JC Wilcox because he has a good intellect and his letters about the migrants flooding into Europe are easily the best on this topic.
