Designed to encourage youngsters to follow their dreams, the Jim Lai Music Festival returns to Bangkok for a second edition

FOLLOWING on from its successful debut last year when it drew more than 20,000 young people, the Jim Lai Music Festival is returning to Bitec Bangna in November with an even bigger range of activities and artists.
“Last year, we received a very good response from the audience, who particularly enjoyed our Yaris The Presenter activity and Car Decoration contest,” said Vudhigorn Suriyachantananont, senior vice president of Toyota Motor Thailand, during the recent launch of the event at Siam Square One.
“We are proud to be a stage for youngsters to show off their talents in art, music and sports and we continue to encourage them to follow their dreams.”
This upcoming music festival is one of three activities under the “Toyota, It’s Mine 2015” campaign and is specifically designed to inspire young people to make their dreams come true through music.
“Our concept is ‘Mobility of Happiness’ and the aim is to bring everybody closer to the artists and net idols as well as have fun with the activities. We focus on members of the new generation who have potential and skills but lack sufficient support,” Vudhigorn explains.
“I think today’s young people are confident about who they are but still need a role model or an inspiration if they are to develop into what they want to be. This event allows them to meet successful artists and net idols. The Jim Lai music festival is also a place for them to show their talents for singing and playing music. Last year, we had a new band, Tra Mali,” said Yuthana Boonorm, managing director for the show business unit at GMM Grammy.
This year the music festival features many artists, among them Bodyslam, Apiwat “Stamp” Eurthavornsuk, Lipta, Cocktail, 25 Hours, Paradox, Getsunova, Lomosonic and Polycat. There’ll also be shows by today’s biggest net idols such as Thai-German singer Jannine Parawie Weigel aka Ploychompoo, Patravee “Earth” Srisuntisuk aka Wishes on the Earth, and Thai-Belgian singer Violette Wautier.
In addition to the music festival, the campaign includes the “Line Sticker Contest” on the concept of “Toyota It’s Mine, Inspire Everyone” and which rewards its winners with prizes worth more than Bt350,000. Also coming up is the “It’s Mine Run Fun Ver”, which features a round mini marathon at Siam Square One with distances of 10 kilometres and 5 km.
“I have loved drawing since I was a kid and would like to make it a career,” illustrator Aruk “Tod” Ornvilai, aka Sahred Toy told XP.
“Drawing is like a lifestyle, you develop your own persona. Mamafaka used to say he discovered his character after having done more than 10,000 drawings.”
“I love exercise like running, swimming, boxing and yoga and am pleased to see more people switching to a healthy lifestyle.
“Our bodies are like a machine. If we work to keep them healthy, the machine will work effectively,” added actress and singer Keerati “Gypsy” Mahapreukpong.
