Best friends should be true and tell you of your faults

Vint Chavala says that America, our best friend, has betrayed us by criticising our junta’s repression of human rights. He asks, “What are friends for nowadays, anyway?” 

I suggest that a true friend always tells you the truth – especially when you do wrong – for then you can mend your ways. 

“It is one of the severest tests of friendship to tell your friend of his faults... to speak painful truth through loving words – that is friendship” (Henry Ward Beecher).

Khun Vint, do those closest to you tell you only the many good things about you? If so, my sincerest sympathies, for such trust you not.
