With the best of his so-called populist policies now enjoying a new lease on life under the military-led government, former premier Thaksin Shinawatra might be ruefully taking note. Once denounced by his enemies as crude vote-buying ploys, quite rightly, they are being presented as worthy attempts to boost the economy and reduce social inequality.
Still, Thaksin can perhaps be consoled in his self-imposed exile with the thought that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
