Killers on the loose?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but officials involved in the botched Koh Tao double-murder investigation are not looking for those who really committed the crime.

Eleven days after the crime, Thai police and officials ceased trying to find the murderers. The state prosecutors at the trial are allied with the police, so naturally they think the same. The defence team is not looking for the real perpetrators because its job is only to defend its clients, who are widely believed to be scapegoats. The victims were young Brits, but the Thai government expressly forbade British investigators from getting involved. Even independently, British forensics experts have done nothing to try to solve the case.
The only people trying to bring the criminals to justice are the hundreds of thousands of armchair sleuths on the social media. It doesn’t help that we are being fed lies by Thai officials, and little better by British officials. It also doesn’t help that evidence has apparently been intentionally lost, trashed or ignored. Meanwhile, the real killers might be roaming free, perhaps with smirks on their faces, knowing they can kill again, and the stunted arm of the law won’t lift a finger to try and find them.
