Royalist claim about 'US lese majeste' is outrageous
Re: "Royalists rally in several provinces, upset at US envoy's criticism", Front page, December 1.
Royalist protest leader Mongkoi Rattana says lese majeste is similar to laws protecting the president of the United States. I am publicly challenging him to show me one law that says you can’t criticise the US president. Anyone who watches Fox News knows how ridiculous such a claim is. As long as you don’t threaten the president with physical harm, there is virtually nothing you can’t say about him. As an American I am extremely offended by such an outrageous comparison that has absolutely no factual basis whatsoever.
