Unemployment of the very workers whose welfare the unions ostensibly protected was ignored. They had one goal – political control of the country – and they almost succeeded. They were only thwarted in 1979 by strong government leadership. Marxists were well aware that the route to political power was to debauch the economy. The ideology of Islam employs the same tactic, but goes further, with destruction of the culture and social fabric.
Paris is a recent example, as is Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt. Following the massacre in Paris and the downing of the Russian passenger plane in the Sinai, tourism has all but ceased in both places. The same ideology on 9/11 did not simply seek to destroy just any building, but the World Trade Centre.
The migrants in Calais are seriously disrupting the transport of goods between France and the UK. Some businesses are facing bankruptcy. The invasion of Europe is seriously stressing infrastructure and threatening resources, security and emergency services. By working for little pay, they are causing unemployment of indigenous people. Their demands for welfare are depleting public finances. Above all, when people live in fear of violence, the economy suffers.
Unlike 1979, there is no leadership prepared to admit to the situation. Not only is it being condoned, it is being assisted. In a cloud of misguided compassion, European leaders refuse to acknowledge that their very way of life is under threat from an alien ideology prepared to murder in its pursuit of political domination. Assisting a foreign power to conquer one’s country is treason.
