I agree wholeheartedly with Greenpeace chief Kumi Naidoo’s concerns that all we’re hearing from the UN Summit in Paris is words from a bunch of second-rate world leaders … at best, self serving politicians!!
Obama and his message of “hope” and “urgent action” are just well crafted words from his advisers, with little substance, after all, he’s only got a year or so left. Examine what has occurred in past 10, 20 years since these “summits” started, have we seen any significant or even minor positive changes to the world’s climate?
Probably one of the most important gauges are glaciers and they are still diminishing at an alarming rate!
CO2 reductions are negligible around the world and have increased in some countries.
Weather patterns have become more erratic, less predictable and more natural disasters are occurring (droughts, floods, fires).
Out of these summits has there been any significant outcomes? Can’t even agree, after many years, on CO2 reduction rate to reduce global warming.
At this time apart from the issue of global warming, this current batch of world leaders are in the main a pathetic group of the least likely to lead, probably the only real standout is Vladimir Putin, who at least says what he’s going to do … and does it!
We need more of these types of leaders!
