AccorHotels has announced plans to operate 200 hotels in Indonesia by 2020 and named the country its biggest hotel network market in Southeast Asia.

"We have been operating in Indonesia for over 20 years and will continue to contribute to the country's tourism and hospitality industries," AccorHotels chief operating officer for Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, Garth Simmons said in a recent press release.
The hotel operator's main upcoming projects include two Sofitel and five Pullman properties. It also plans to open new accommodation facilities in lesser-known tourist destinations such as Samarinda and Berau in East Kalimantan, Pangkalan Bun and Palangkaraya in Central Kalimantan, Pekalongan in Central Java, Cirebon in West Java and Gresik in East Java.
AccorHotels recently opened its 100th property, Novotel Makassar Grand Shayla City Center, in South Sulawesi to mark its success in 2015.
"Our development strategy includes becoming a hospitality industry player that has the largest number of human resources of almost 12,000 employees. We are currently looking for 7,000 new employees in the next five years," said Simmons.
According to the 2015 World Economic Forum Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index report, Indonesia was ranked No. 50 among 141 countries, up from No. 74 in the 2011 report. The country attracted over 9.4 million foreign tourists in 2014 and has set a target of luring 20 million annually by 2019. (kes)
