Was Pornthip’s Koh Tao testimony reliable?

THURSDAY, JANUARY 14, 2016

I’d like to point out a fact to those who are bashing the police over their investigation of the Koh Tao rape-murder case.

In discrediting the police, the bashers always cite Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand’s testimony that “the crime scene was poorly managed and the collection of evidence contradicted the principles of forensic science”.
Dr Pornthip, a top forensics expert with the Justice Department, now retired, has always been at odds with the police forensics team due to a jurisdiction overlap. The “who’s in charge” squabble reached a head when both worked together to identify victims of the 2004 tsunami, where police eventually got their way.
I’m not surprised that Pornthip, a staunch vocal supporter of the bogus GT200 bomb detector, testified against the police.
