It is now understood that the TPP [Trans-Pacific Partnership] is a disaster for countries like Thailand. While it may benefit a few multinationals, Thailand will have to forsake its sovereignty to the United States [if it joins the trade pact]. Moreover the TPP will open the door to the infamous GMOs [genetically modified organism] and a plethora of other products that Thailand can do without. Other products made in Thailand won’t be allowed under the copyright rules covered by the TPP, making Thailand a virtual colony of the US. Only a minister of commerce would say that the TPP is beneficial to Thailand. Let’s hope that this nightmare never comes true.
Who will benefits from the TPP in Thailand? Certainly not the farmers and the poorest segments of the population.
