Abhisit’s medieval dungeon for political opponents

Re: “Change the law so politicians can’t wield it as a weapon”, Letters, February 18.

Vint Chavala claims that the people accused of lese majeste and who are living abroad threatened Thailand’s sovereignty. How does he know that?
When someone is accused of lese majeste, the public is not informed of what was said. Does Vint have some inside information the rest of us don’t have?
Is it just a wild coincidence that almost all the people convicted of lese majeste when Abhisit was prime minister just happened to be his political opponents? Is it justice for someone to be totally at the mercy of a judge who doesn’t have to answer to the public or the press and might have his own political bias?
I’ll say it again: it’s outrageous to suggest that Abhisit was anything but a cruel dictator who, instead of helping poor people, found excuses to throw them in jail.
