Pick a nit and win a prize?

I can’t help but agree with the sentiment expressed by Ye Old Nitpicker regarding “certain space-hogs” in the letters column. Even worse, they are prominent in the other English daily. To the casual observer it would appear these gentlemen have cornered the space for public debate on Thai issues. Yet I’m sure that, among the 67 million people in Thailand, there are others with different points of view worthy of public debate.

As such I urge editors to adopt Ye Old Nitpicker’s idea of limiting the number of letters from each writer. Perhaps the papers could also encourage more correspondence by giving a prize for the letter of the week or of the month.
