SEVERAL FACTORS might be behind Leicester City’s unexpected ascent to the summit of the English Premier League, but the assistant abbot of Traimitr Withayaram Temple points to the cloth amulet specially designed for the Thai-owned club.

The Midlands club have been undoubtedly the revelation of the season after they spent much of the current campaign at the top of the standings ahead of English football’s traditional powerhouses.
The Foxes are also known for being superstitious, with Thai owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha regularly inviting Phra Phrommangalajan to visit King Power Stadium to give his players spiritual support.
Better known as “Chao Khun Thong Chai”, he was convinced that Leicester would clinch their first ever top-flight title come May.
“I made the fabric amulet with the club’s crest on it to lend them moral support. It’s something we can’t cast off.
“Everyone uses sport science and they all do the training. But, why do they perform well on one day and poor on the other? It’s all about the morale [of the team],” he said.
He then poked fun at a reporter after learning which side he supported.
“Why Liverpool? Why not Leicester? They’re gonna be the champions,” said the monk, enticing laughter among the media.
