The new C watches designed by Ichiro Iwasaki for Issey Miyake make their debut in Bangkok

TOON MAHADUMRONGKUL, chief executive for marketing of Trocadero Group, the exclusive distributor of Issey Miyake timepieces, recently invited A-listers and celebrities to The Okura Prestige Bangkok for the launch of the new series of the C creative watch designed by the leading Japanese product designer Ichiro Iwasaki.
Introduced earlier this year at Baselworld, the C watch is the latest in the series of creative artistic watches from the Issey Miyake Watch Project in collaboration with globally renowned designers from diverse fields. In designing his chronograph, Iwasaki removed unnecessary elements and adhered rigorously to the essence of a timepiece with dial face consisting of lines and numerals only, the hour and minute hands ticking time slowly above it. This series is once again genderless and comes in one-size (42.2 mm) with a choice of bands of various materials and colours to suit every occasion.
Iwasaki, who started his career at Sony Design Centre, before moving to Italy, launched his own studio in 1995 and is best known for his unusual though functional stationary, household goods, tableware, furniture, lighting and electronic devices such as digital cameras and mobile phones.
The launch event began with an exclusive interview of young, energetic and passionate celebrities from different professions who presented the watches, mixing and matching them to reflect their individual styles. They included Nualtong “KiKi” Dhitavat with the C-Chic, Nattavut “Joe” Trivisvavet with the C-Charming, Chudaree “Tam” Debhakam with the C-Classy and Nukoolkit “Tig” Aeamla-Or with the C-Cool.
Guests were then invited to take part in a fun “C” Creativity Worksho where Wannasiri Srivarathanabul of Artbangkok.com, a leading contemporary art and creative design website, showed them how to make stylish DIY leather bracelets.
