Sarat Settles at 4th Place

Thailand’s last hope in weightlifting Sarat Sumpradit had to settle at fourth in the men’s 94kg competition after losing to bronze medallist Aurimas Didzabalis of Lithuania by just two kilos.

Sarat lifted a total 390kg while the Lithuanian opponent won the third place with an overall lift of 392kg. Iran’s Sohrab Moradi won the gold with a total attempt of 403kg, eight kilos better than silver medallist Vadzim Straltsou of Belarus.

Nevertheless, weightlifting still remains the only medal sport for the Kingdom in Rio Games. Sopita Tanasan and Sukanya Srisurat won the golds from the women’s 48kg and 58kg respectively. Pimsiri Sirikaew took the silver in the women’s 58kg and Sinphet Kruathong earned the bronze from the men’s 56kg.
