A hero’s burial for Marcos? Incinerate the villain

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24, 2016

To paraphrase a line from Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar”, I come to burn Marcos, not to praise him.

Modern funeral services offer cremation as an alternative, so let us incinerate the corpse of the man who did so much harm to the country and its people.
Since his family’s wishes for a hero’s burial have met with furious opposition, a compromise would be to cut his body in two and bury one half in his home province of Ilocos Norte and the other in Manila’s Heroes’ Cemetery.
The truth is that, through generations without end, Marcos will always be a curse to our nation.
So let’s just burn his corpse, and with it the memory of atrocities he committed against the Filipino people.
