Further to your overview about Toyota’s hybrid cars, this year we looked at replacing our 11-year-old car with a Hybrid SUV and found only one option in the Bt1 million-Bt1.5 million range – the Nissan X-Trail. As you mention, Toyota is only offering the Camry saloon car, which was not what we were looking for. So we made our choice and are very happy with it.
When so much of the gasoline in Thailand is imported, any effort to reduce this by increasing the choice of hybrids would seem like a logical step for carmakers and the government should offer incentives. Added benefits would be reduced pollution (when driving in electric mode), reduced noise levels, and reduced global warming. If these hybrids or full-electric vehicles could also be used for public and tour buses, all the better.
