Vint Chavala brought up Thaksin Shinawatra’s so-called war on drugs in which, of “roughly 2,800 people killed in extrajudicial shootings … [i]t was found that roughly half had never been involved with drugs”.
Who exactly “found” this?
Vint adds: “Others were rumoured killed on the orders of corrupt officials.” What is the source for this?
I’m still scratching my head over why no murder charges have ever been brought against Thaksin. I mean, killing 2,800 people is surely grounds for extradition and deserving of no less than the death penalty. In addition, it seems strange that not one relative of the 2,800 victims has ever come forward to seek justice for their murdered loved one, not a soul.
Following the 2006 coup, Thaksin’s opponents accused him of everything from plotting to overthrow the monarchy to triggering social divisiveness to committing adultery. It’s been 10 years, yet no formal charges have been issued.
