Kittipong Plays Wang in Davis Cup 1st Rubber

Thai No 2 Kittipong Wachiramanowong will open his account against world No 447 th Tsung-Hua Yang in the Davis Cup Zone Asia/Oceania Qualifying Group II final round on Friday at the National Tennis Development Centre.

Kittipong just lost to the former junior world No 1  in the first round of a home challenger earlier this year.

“I won’t stay in the rallies with him as he gets used to the weather in Thailand quite well. I will try to find a way to beat him and win a point for Thailand,” said the 26-year-old Kittipong.

“I will try to test a few things against him and see which plan works more. But I know I have to be physically tough playing Taiwanese players as they are quite solid,” added the Thai No 2.

Wang, the 2008 junior world No 1 said:  “I know Kittipong well. He’s a good player. I don’t know how I’m going to react to the best of five set match under the heat. But we are all prepared for this.”

In the second reversed singles,  Thai No 1 singles player Pruchya Isarow wil play Taiwanese No 2 Lee Kuan Yi, No 504 in the world. Lee just beat the Thai in straight sets two weeks ago in Hua Hin.

“I had a fever and blisters on my hand the last time we played. This time I’m in much better condition”

On Saturday Hung Jui-Chen and Wang Chieh-Fu up will play  Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana due at 10am. Pruhcya-Wang rubber is set at 10am on Sunday followed by the Kittipong-Lee clash.
