Harnn weaves its magic at its new Heritage Spa Krungthep

WHEN IT comes to feeling pampered, there’s nothing quite like Harnn. The natural spa and aromatherapy concern, set up more than 17 years ago by Vudhichai Harnphanich, is now adding to that pampering with the opening of the luxury Harnn Heritage Spa Krungthep.
Located in downtown Bangkok on 12M floor of Zen Tower, CentralWorld, the luxury spa is spread over 360 square metres and offers a panoramic view of the busy capital. Based on Asian holistic wisdom and designed to enhance the five senses for a balanced restoration of body and mind, the spa is wonderfully tranquil, making it a welcome escape from the noisy shopping mall.
Vudhichai, a trained architect, has been involved in Harnn Heritage every step of the way. It offers a new interpretation of contemporary design, with rich cultural and oriental elements that are inspired by the shopping centre’s original landlord Petchaboon Palace. The soft green celadon hue promotes a feeling of peace and tranquillity while the carved cotton roses, a flower often seen in Thai traditional artwork, lavishly decorate the spa’s hallway. Bells, a common feature in traditional Thai houses, have taken on a new life as modern decorative light bulbs and precious artworks and artefacts collected by Vudhichai are interspersed with works of new designers.
And, of course, the service and the spa treatments themselves more than live up to Harnn’s reputation.
“The little things are what make our spa stand out. Our customers have high expectations of our service and we cannot afford to let them down,” Vudhichai says.
“When we do spa training aboard, especially in five-star hotels, they all want to have Thai therapists. Harnn’s luxury spa has reinforced Thailand’s image as an ultimate wellness destination.”
That’s certainly true for Harnn Heritage Spa Krungthep, where the treatments rely on unique Asian techniques and knowledge that have been passed down through the generations. Here, holistic Ayurvedic healing from Thailand, India, China, and Japan is combined with aromatherapy and natural therapeutic elements as well as natural products containing botanical ingredients for a treatment that is guaranteed to make you feel good.
A range of 14 tailored therapies are on offer, each taking its name from a Bangkok area. “Pranakorn Therapy” is a traditional Thai massage, “Ploenchit Therapy” is a balanced therapy between traditional Thai massage and Thai aromatic massage, “Songward Therapy” is an acupressure massage based on Thai and Chinese techniques, and “Dusit Therapy” is a Thai deep tissue massage designed to ease muscle pain.
The 180-minute signature treatments are named after the golden age of Siam. “Sukhothai Passage” is a superb way to get pampered from head-to-toe. The treatment takes place in one of the dual deluxe couple’s rooms and begins with a 20-minute soak in Harnn’s original Herbal Tea Bath in a small Jacuzzi bathtub. That prepares the skin for a revitalising body scrub, which is followed by an acupressure foot massage to promote a balanced natural energy flow. A Thai Aromatic Massage then provides relief from muscle tension, improving muscle tone and replenishing the skin’s natural lustre with natural massage oil. Guests get to choose the aromatic oil that they prefer. The Passage is completed with a facial treatment using White Mulberry extracts to preserve the condition of the skin while promoting a brightening effect.
“Ayudhya Passage” presents aromatic herbs rich in natural essential oils that play a large role in healing. The treatment promotes a balanced wellness from within starting with a Herbal Steam Bath and continuing with a skin purifying body scrub to remove dead skin cells and pollutants. After a foot massage, the treatment finishes with an aromatic oil massage.
“Rattanakosin Passage”, meanwhile, is designed to combat physical and mental fatigue. It begins with an acupressure foot massage then shifts focus to traditional Thai massage to relieve physical tension and a deep tissue massage to ease muscle tension.
Vudhichai says Harnn Heritage Spa Krungthep soon will launch a spa academy, offering members of the public and tourists the chance to learn how to massage themselves and their family members.
