Cat killer should have been jailed for 18 years

The good news in the jailing for 18 months of the coward who killed and tortured perhaps as many as 20 cats is that, thanks to the Animal Welfare Bill passed this year, people who torture or kill animals can now be held legally accountable. Letter-writers
The bad news is that 18 months is too brief a sentence. He should have been given 18 years! In my view there is absolutely no moral difference between needlessly torturing and killing an animal or torturing and killing a human. The suffering in both situations is the same, and so should the punishment.
