The new Acer Liquid Zest 4G is an ideal phone for anyone with not much cash to spare
A 4G SMARTPHONE with fast Internet connection, a clear 5-inch display and a more than adequate camera, the Acer Liquid Zest 4G is great value for money.
Retailing for less than Bt6,000, the phone supports two microSIM cards and LTE 4G connection and is powered by a low-cost MediaTek quad-core processor running at 1 GHz. It has two gigabytes of working memory or RAM and 16 GB of storage, expandable with a microSD card. It runs on the Android 6.0 operating system.
The 5-inch IPS display has a resolution of 1280x720- pixels and uses Zero Air Gap technology to enhance visuals.
The Zest 4G supports LTE connection at the bandwidths of 800, 850, 900, 1800, 2100 and 2600 MHz. I tested the data connection on TrueMove H's LTE network and found the phone connected fast, downloading phone update software of more than 80 megabytes in seconds. Snapshots were backed up to my Google Photos cloud storage in no time.
I used Ookhla’s Speedtest app to test the connection speed and found that Liquid Zest 4G achieved the download speed of 58.85 Mbps and upload speed of 31.80 Mbps.
While the touch screen and menu response times are not blazing fast, they are certainly not sluggish. During the test, I played Pokemon Go on the phone without any performance hiccups.
The Zest 4G plays music with good sound quality with its DTS-HD Premium Sound technology that delivers fuller, more immersive surround sound and 3D audio experience.
Best of all, it also supports High-Resolution Audio files of FLAC 24bit/192kHz format. I was dubious at first but tested High-Res Audio playback with Sony’s MDR-1ABT headphones and enjoyed the good details and deep bass of the music.
The Zest 4G comes with 8 MP main camera of good quality for a mobile phone and 5 MP front camera with 85-degree wide-angle lens. Acer Liquid Zest 4G retails for Bt5,990.
