Economist, New York Times fall into trap of hearsay

Based in London, The Economist is one of the world’s most respectable news magazines, while the New York Times is one of the world’s top newspapers. However, these two news powerhouses seem to have breached journalistic ethics by publishing false information about His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

From the day of his death, articles in both publications have offered false and absolutely incorrect information about Thailand and His Majesty the King.
The language used and the attitudes displayed were utterly inappropriate to describe a head of state immediately after his passing.
As a Thai who was born and has lived in this country for 70 years, I challenge the two publishers to explain the oblique descriptions and accusations published in the articles in a clear and distinct manner.
The two publishers should also reveal the source(s) of their information so as to show they have not been manipulated by any person or party unwittingly or in an unprofessional way.
