Third Time Is A Charm for Pavarisa

Third time was a charm for Nakhon Si Thammarat-born Pavarisa Prin who emerged the only Thai player to earn a full card into the 2017 LPGA season following the final round of the LPGA and Semetra Tour Qualifying School Stage 3 at Daytona Beach on Sunday.

Pavarisa, 22, shot an ending 68 for a total 4-under-par 356 to finish at tied 19th in the qualifying event which selected only 20 players entitled to compete in most full-field events on the LPGA Tour next year.

The 2013 Thai LPGA top prize money leader and her caddie broke down in tears after realizing she was guaranteed a top 20 spot.

Third Time Is A Charm for Pavarisa

“I was so overwhelmed because I failed it twice already,” said Pavarisa who won the SEA Games team silver medal in Indonesia five years ago. “All the efforts finally paid off. I came into the competition knowing more on what shots to play.”

The winner of the Wuhan Challenger in China in 2014 said she was even more emotional to receive a distant phone call from her father right after he heard the good news.

“He always stays awake to follow my results. I’m happy to make this for my father.”

Thailand has only one successful candidate this year compared to four last year. Budsabakorn Sukapan who made the top 20 finish last year and Prima Thammaraks who finished at 40th and 35th  respectively were in the next category and are eligible to play in only some events.

“The greens were not in good shape this year because of hurricane. So it was difficult for many players. I’m lucky that experience really helped me through,” said Pavarisa whose goal is to maximize her efforts and remain her status on the Tour for 2018 season.
