MOTOROLA has come up with earbuds which eliminate the tangle of wires that are particularly annoying during sports.
As well as being wireless, the VerveOnes+ are sweat resistant and still give good quality sound with an attractive design that will be appreciated on and off any sports field or gymnasium.
Weighing only 68 grams, the earbuds plug comfortably into your ears, giving lots of flexibility and a feeling that you are not wearing earphones at all.
They come in sleek black and orange colours with a carrying case in the same colours, which serves as a charger. The case also has a built-in battery that can be used as a power bank for recharging the earbuds on the go, giving up to 12 hours of playtime.
The earbuds conform to IP57 rating so they are resistant to water and perspiration and HZO protection has been applied to the internal circuitry which makes them resistant to corrosive materials.
Ideal for just about any type of physical exercise, The VerveOnes+ are easy to set up to link to your smartphone or tablet computer using Bluetooth.
When you wear them for the first time, the left earbud will be in connection mode, ready to be linked to your device. You can then go to the Bluetooth menu on your smartphone or tablet to make the connection.
After the left earbud is linked to your device, the right earbud will automatically connect to the left one and you hear “earbuds linked”.
The left earbud has a music control button that also serves as a phone call button. You press it once to pause a track and again to continue playing. You can double press it to go to the next track and press it three times to go back one track or start the song again.
With the Ear Detect On function, the earbuds will automatically disconnect from your device and the music will stop once you remove them from your ears. The earbuds will power off after five minutes if they are not put back in your ears.
When there is a phone call, you can press the button once to answer the call or twice to reject it. During the call, you can press the left earbud button to end the call. The earbuds provide clear calls through dual microphones.
The VerveOnes+ also supports Siri and Google Now voice commands. When not in a call and not playing music, you can press and hold the left earbud button to start voice commands.
The earbuds have six equaliser presets for customised listening: Bass, Live, Brilliant, Balanced, Rhythm, and Moto Sound. You select the profiles by pressing and holding the left earbud button. More conveniently, you can change the sound profiles by using Hubble Connect or VerveLife app.
The adjust equaliser setting can also be used to locate the earbuds on a map to find the location of the last time the earbuds were connected.
You can also use the app to activate the Pass-Through Audio, which allows you to hear noises around you. The app can also be used to turn the Ear Detect function on and off.
The earbuds come with three sizes of ear gels to fit your ears for optimal sound |quality.
I found that the VerveOnes+ reproduced high quality music sound with clarity and good bass. The bass was amazingly solid for in-ear type earphones. I enjoyed listening to rock music for hours with the earbuds. For example, AC/DC’s “Rock or Bust” album was pulsating with deep bass and clear guitar sounds.
Motorola VerveOnes+ retails for |Bt8,990.
