18-year-old German Daniel Altmaier is training at the Rama Gardens Hotel for the US$50,000 Bangkok Open Challenger 2.
The teenager who won four Men's Futures singles titles last year reached the final of the US$10,000 Thailand Men's Futures 5 in Hua Hin last month.
Altmaier who grew up wataching Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal as his idols hoped to qualify at Wimbledon this year.
For Maximilian Marterer, he makes his first appearance in the capital for the Bangkok Open Challenger 1. The 21-year-old made it to the semi-final which was his best run in a hard-court Challenger.
Marterer was having five match points against two-time champion Blaz Kavcic of Slovenia but ended up losing the match in three sets. His next stop is in Melbourne where he will take part in the Australian Open qualifying rounds.
