Sunday’s latest diatribe merely confirms this; it must be reassuring to brand the likes of de Niro, Streep et al as ‘vulgar’, and ‘egotistical’, whilst eulogising a modest, unassuming, self-effacing, innocent Donald Trump.
That said, the morally-correct speaking truth to the morally-bankrupt is best exemplified lately by veteran civil rights activist and national icon John Lewis’ courageous and quite proper decision to boycott Trump’s ethically offensive inauguration as ‘President’ of the US, along with several other seriously concerned politicians. Therein lies an essential difference of character; Lewis openly voices his outrage on national television, whilst Trump’s flatulent and incorrect reply comes, as usual, either from behind the safety of his Twitter account, or a hermetically-secure podium in front of his slavering supporters.
