How the IoT could make America great again

Re: “How algorithms (secretly) run the world”, Opinion, February 14.

Algorithms have been around since the ancient Greeks and the Parthenon. Muslims used them to build prefabricated structures over 600 years ago. But nobody really knew or used the word until the era of “new electronics” and the “big algorithm” (BA) that popped up in the early 1980s. You don’t know about the BA? The BA is identified as the Maximum Efficient Transfer of Modulated Energy – or METME.
In plain speak, it is a new method to control all electronic modulated energy. Fundamentally it is a major discovery that compresses a bandwidth of 8 kilocycles/second (AM radio station) down a 2.3kcs telephone line (smartphones, computers, satellites, etc). This allows a massive expansion in the availability of useful information across all sectors of human life.
For example, virtually all banks in Thailand are reducing staff and branches by up to 30 per cent. You do not need staff when customers have direct electronic access to their accounts. Norway is shutting down all its FM radio stations because they use “out of date” electricity, and replacing them with a METME system that has far better range and is five to eight times cheaper.
Elsewhere, automobiles are being fitted with monitors that warn the driver if a tyre is low on pressure, while at home parents will soon be able to tell immediately that the baby upstairs has a damp diaper. Language schools and translators will soon be made obsolete by a function on your phone. A conversation between, say, an English speaker and a Masai speaker will be translated in real time, resulting in perfect comprehension on both sides.
My interest in METME stems from the role I played in its early development, with 10 years spent organising and developing the new technology in the 1980s. By the end of the ’80s METME was the focus of a US taxpayer-funded project directly controlled by the Central Intelligence Agency.
The punchline is that METME is now better known as the Internet of Things (IOT) – the largest commercial event in the history of mankind. It will earn up to $14 trillion in less than 10 years. Properly administered it could pay off a great part of the US external debt – and make America great again, real great! As a US taxpayer-funded project, it is a major US government asset.
